Free Throws

Lil' Lefty won a free throw shooting contest at her school that qualified her for the division competition. The event was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Lil' Lefty finished second in the division competition(she tied for first and had to have a shoot out), which qualified her for the next step up. She finished 3rd at that level. Great effort for Lil' Lefty since she has never really played basketball (In fact, Lil' Lefty hasn't picked up a basketball since she played for the psycho YMCA coach 5 years ago in Texas at age 5).

What do all of these Teams have in common?

... The Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals, Washington Nationals (Nats), New York Mets, Houston Astros, Florida Marlins, Baltimore Orioles, and St. Louis Cardinals...

These are all of the teams we have tickets to see when we are in Ft. Lauderdale for a week during Spring Break. Nowhere else do the teams come to the fans but during MLB Spring Training.

The Panthers and Capitals play in the NHL. The Leafs (a.k.a. Toronto Maple Leafs) are in Miami the week we are there, but I would prefer to have MacDaddy see Alex Ovechkin of the Caps. I haven't bought the tickets and would hope to get decent tickets walking up before the game...

MacDaddy says "Defence" - spelled Canadian

MacDaddy has had fun playing hockey this year. This is his third year on skates and playing hockey. In the video below MacDaddy is in the middle of the frame most of the time and is #8. He does a good job protecting the Blue Line.

This year the coach has begun to establish positions. MacDaddy has decided he wants to play "defence". In American that is "defense". :-) For three years I have watched hockey and picked up a few qualities of defencemen. This clip shows MacDaddy guarding the Blue Line. Defencemen say they "do not want to loose a game" and Forwards say "they want to win a game". MacDaddy has fallen in love with the "one-timer" which is a slapshot off a moving puck... hitting the puck "one- time". Hockey is a great game. Hockey is a great team sport. Going forward, it appears, MacDaddy's contribution to the team will no longer be measured in goals scored.

Superbowl

CTV broadcasts the Superbowl. I am not an expert on Canadian communications, but I believe that CTV buys the "signal" of the Superbowl. They pay for their purchase by showing their own commercials. The first commercial was a Budweiser commercial and then a Nissan truck commercial. Oh well, I hope the game is good.
