After a few practices, the coach entered the team in an early bird tournament in Innisfil, Ontario (Look it up). MacDaddy and I had to be out of the house each morning at 6AM to drive 1 1/4 hours to his tournament. When you drive away from Toronto the temperature drops.
MacDaddy's team had a challenge their first two games. If they had scored a touchdown they might have covered (a nice way of saying they lost by a lot).
They improved each game of the tournament. In the third game of the tournament, MacDaddy scored the team's first goal, and his first goal as a Rep hockey player. Must have been some dust in the arena. As the parents were asking who scored, I knew who scored from the blue line while playing "defence"-- the Canadian spelling.
MacDaddy received the player of the game award and special recognition for scoring the Spitfire team's first goal... ever. It's a new team. Coach Ron, in white had the kids come out to his truck after each game for Gatorade, watermelon, bananas, grapes and apples. It got the kids out of the dressing room fast.
I like Coach Ron and his wife Lois who is the Team Manager. Regardless of victories, MacDaddy will get good coaching.
